Professional Background
Dustin is a Licensed Resident in Counseling who has worked with adults, adolescents, and couples on issues including sexual addiction, marriage and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and trauma. His professional experience includes work at the Elim Home, a residential treatment center for men struggling with substance use.
In addition to his work as a therapist, Dustin administers psychological assessments at Advanced Psychotherapeutics in Forest, VA, under the supervision of Dr. Jeanne Brooks. In this setting he has learned of the value that standardized assessments bring to cases varying from individual counseling to criminal and child custody evaluations.
Approach to Counseling
Dustin believes a holistic approach to counseling is necessary to provide long-lasting healing instead of simple symptom management. His goal is to help clients cope well with current circumstances while exploring underlying beliefs and motivations that contribute to those issues. The cognitive-behavioral and experiential techniques he incorporates are built on a foundation of trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship.
